Description

John James Audubon, in his notes, describes the Purple Gallinule this way: “Reader, although you may think it strange, I candidly assure you that I have experienced a thousand times more pleasure while looking at the Purple Gallinule flirting its tail while gaily moving over the broad leaves of the water lily, than I have ever done while silently sitting in the corner of a crowded apartment….”

The Purple Gallinule is a richly colored bird which inhabits the southeastern states of the U.S. It prefers freshwater marsh type environments, with lily pads, pickerelweed and other aquatic vegetation.

This Princeton Edition was printed on heavy, acid free, museum quality paper using specially designed archival inks. It is a fine art edition strictly limited to 1500 prints. All Princetons are hand numbered and bear an embossed seal in the lower margin of the print.
